A good day to learn something new.......

We began our homeschooling today - very slowly - as this year, not only do I have two full-time students but we are using all new curriculum.

(Pshaw! - as if I didn't already have my hands full with the whole world domination thing and training a puppy not to eat the legs off the outdoor table!)

We began with Maths, and the children learned all about place values. We drew up "Decimal Street" and built houses for the "units, tens and hundreds". Fascinating, riveting, exciting stuff....

As for me, I learned today that I have Planters Fasciitis (sounds a lot more exotic than it really is) which would explain all the pain in my right foot. It's very common apparently, but also very expensive.

I have to have orthotics made for my shoes at $390 a set. Guess who'll be getting one set and only allowed to own one pair of shoes!!

So, we all learned something new today. Except the dog. He's still eating the legs off the table......

You start school early! I don't think (Or at least I hope!) that we start till January 2. Strange dog...

Oh no! :( Bad feet, bad feet... :(

Yay for Decimal Street! Can't wait to start school next week! We're catching up on read-alouds and some art this week, and gardening. :) And getting the last few resources we need for next week! Stu went back yesterday, very sad. :(
How was Brissie?

You've got a lot on your plate, teaching your kids full-time. It always amazes me when people think that my job, teaching college-age kids, is harder than my husband's job, teaching 10-year-olds. Anyone who tried doing both jobs would soon see which one is the more challenging. But I think teaching your age group is also much more satisfying!

well if you're only having 1 pair of shoes, make sure they are rhinestone studded disco slippers!

Helen, hope that school goes well for you this year. I'm sure you will all enjoy it. Sorry to hear about your feet.(I understand your pain)

Just because you haven't posted doesn't mean you are busy with school work. Were are the Oxlades? And do they ever visit Face book?

hey, I wish we would have thought of a picture with Flat Brandon and Naked Ben before I had to send Flat Brandon back home. That would have been funny!!

We're headed to Wetside at 1:30 on Wednesday for Catie's birthday if you're interested. Yes, it's the first day of school but us homeschoolers can rock like that!! =)

Vanilla vodka--I put vanilla beans in a bottle of vodka to make my own vanilla extract. So yummy!!! NExt time I might try bourbon.
