Waddayamean eavesdropping?........

I have the flu. And I am absolutely miserable. Sick enough to remain in my PJ's for the last two days (there is some good in all this after all!), sick enough to not even be able to think about trying to teach (Ellie and Harri are quite happy having "school holidays")sick enough that the thought of cooking (or even making a sandwich) makes me shudder, sick enough that the idea of tidying up makes me sink back against my pillows. Fortunately, not sick enough to miss out on a priceless giggle when eavesdropping on my children' conversations......

Late yesterday afternoon after playing six or seven games with a pack of cards up on my bed -

Harri: "Can't wait for Daddy to get home tonight"
Ellie: "Yeah, me either. Mum's not much fun when she's sick"
Harri: "Even when she's good (I presume he means healthy) she's always trying to teach us something or be all educational"
Ellie: "sigh"

The next conversation was right before lunch, and they were trying to decide on a movie to watch while I had a bit of a kip on my bed.....

Ellie: "Let's watch The Fairies Harri"
Harri: "Is it going to be all girly and try to teach us how to dance?"
Ellie: "well yeah'
Harri: "I think we should watch Bindi instead - she's much more educational"

That seemed to end the discussion - obviously Harri knows how I feel about "educational" things.

Sigh.

Hey Oxlades!

Sorry to hear you're not feeling well Helen.

Not sure if you've heard... they have these great new inventions where parents can send their kids while they stay at home or go to work. You should look into it...

*Chinger - to grin and cringe at the same time, such as after you say something smart and are waiting to get punched, as in... "After the comment, he couldn't help but chinger".

mmm, yep, the 'E word' doesn't get an airing here. It seems to immediately quench any desiring to do an activity, so it's been edited from our vocabulary for the time being.

Thanks to you Mrs O, I've listened a little more closely to the things my boys have been saying today. LOL :)

Peace
JM
